Married in Thailand to Welsh woman Arlene, he came to Wales in the
early 1970's and graduated from UWIST in economics.
Career : Noi is one of Cardiff's most well known and respected
restaurateurs. His gastronomic career began nearly two decades ago in
answer to calls by friends and acquaintances to make Thai cuisine
available in Wales. So The Thai House Restaurant on first
floor premises in High Street became the first Thai restaurant
outside London.
With friends and mentors Ann and Franco Teruschio to point him in the
right direction Noi spent the next few years using his wealth of
experience travelling the world's top hotels and restaurants to turn
the High Street's The Thai House into a popular intimate venue,
building up his reputation as one of the most instinctive players in
the Thai food industry in the United Kingdom.
As President of the Thai Restaurateurs Association of the UK in the
90's, Noi worked tirelessly to promote and drive awareness of good
quality Thai food. It is now the most popular and fastest growing
cuisine with over a thousand restaurants throughout the UK.
In 1999, having met the challenge of successfully running Wales'
first and premiere Thai restaurant, Noi opened Skymarket, which
ensures that fresh produce is flown in weekly from Bangkok. As well
as providing The Thai House with all the necessary ingredients to
maintain the highest of standards, Skymarket also supplies the
growing network of Thai restaurants scattered around the UK thus
producing another first for Cardiff.
The combination of a superb restaurant and the right clientele has
ensured the enormous success of The Thai House which Noi moved to a
bigger establishment on Guildford Crescent in 1997. As one of Cardiff
s most spacious restaurants, The Thai House has a capacity for 150
people on one ground floor. From its opening night the venue has been
embraced by Cardiff's fashion conscious crowd and has become
synonymous with a retreat where private or more open surroundings
guarantee an altogether holistic dining experience. Noi is a familiar
sight at the restaurant, taking great care and pleasure in ensuring
his guests' enjoyment and becoming a friend to many of the colourful
personalities who frequent it.
