Born 1958 in Hong Kong, the youngest of four children. He served his
culinary apprenticeship at Hong Kong's renowned Peninsula Hotel.
Career : He immigrated to Canada in 1978, where he worked his
way to executive chef status at a number of restaurants. Lee
currently owns two restaurants in Toronto, Susur, and Lee,
located side-by-side at 601 and 603 King St. West. His eclectic style
is described as fusion cuisine.
Susur opened its doors in 2000, and was designed with aid from his
wife, Brenda Bent(three sons) (Lee's first wife died in the Korean
Airlines disaster in 1983).
1998 - 1999 Tung Lok Group - Executive Culinary Consultant,
overseeing 21 restaurants in the Tung Lok Group. Singapore -

In 1999, Susur Lee was named one of the top 10 chefs in the world by
Food and Wine magazine.
2005 - 2006 Buddakan New York - Consultant. In 2006, Susur Lee
appeared on Iron Chef America and battled Iron Chef Bobby Flay to a
draw. The secret ingredient was bacon.
