Career : The Ashoka,
originally opened in Glasgow in 1982, and is now owned by
Chef/Patron Syrus Bavarsagh (2002). The decor has been described as
'richly opulent' and, since a very expensive refurbishment, The
Ashoka can cater for up to 130 customers. Classic curries from
the Parsee-inspired menu
His independent restaurant (which, despite its name,
is not part of the Harlequin chain), offers lively hen parties and
office groups tend to head for the 'curry karaoke' below street
level, while the main dining space, branded the Ashoka Flame, offers
a comfortably intimate setting among high-backed chairs and laid-back music.
Subject of many awards including twice representing
