Born in India.
Career : After winning a gold medal as the best all round
student of her year at the Bombay Catering College, everyone who knew
Sherin back then would realise that she would go on to accomplish
many feats, not least of all her then friend, and now husband,
Mehernosh Mody.
Upon leaving the college, Sherin was snapped up by India's most
prestigious hotel group. She spent the next seven years travelling
the length and breadth of the sub-continent, gaining both management
skills and knowledge of regional cuisines, as well as learning from
the range of talented chefs that she encountered, which would stand
her in good stead for later on in her career. During this time,
Sherin worked as the Head Chef at the Golden Dragon, Bombay. The
network of contacts that she developed over the years would also come
in handy for Sherin as the General Manager and Executive Director of
La Porte des Indes restaurant, London in developing and building a
strong team to help make it a theatrical dining experience for all to savour.
As front of house, Sherin's guile has enabled her to create a
fantastic restaurant that is second to none, winning awards such as
"Most Fashionable Restaurant" from the Harpers & Queen
Restaurant Guide and "Best Front of House" from the Real
Curry Restaurant Guide. It has also led to the restaurant receiving
comments such as:
"La Porte des Indes is larger than life, beautifully lit
space seduces with its jungle, waterfalls and liberal sprinkling of
Indian artefacts. Orchids are even flown in weekly from Bangkok for
the floral displays. With smiling, gracious service, this is a

Sherin's hard work of maintaining a high standard of service on the
restaurant floor is one of the reasons why so many high-profiled
celebrities have dined their in recent times; La Porte des Indes'
wall of fame can boast the likes of Bryan Adams, Dennis Coulthard,
Danni Minogue, Keira Knightley and Omar Sharif, amongst many others
as diners.
Sherin is co-author to the cookbook "La Porte des Indes
Best in Britain Award (BIBA) 1997-2007 - BIBA Front of House of the
