Satty Singh

Born in Britain 1967

Career : Satty started out as a waiter at Noor Mahal restaurant in Shawlands, Glasgow back in 1987. But he soon took his first entrepreneurial step when he opened his own restaurant in 1990. He then moved on in 1994 to open Mr Singh’s India, the world famous curry house situated in Charing Cross, Glasgow. The restaurant is now run by son Mark.

Then he secured the family property business in 1996, and in 1998 Satty became the Head of Operations for the Harlequin Leisure Group working with Charen Gill and Guramil Dillon.

In 2001 he left Harlequin to concentrate on his other businesses and in 2004 he acquired Mearns Castle Golf Academy – the Home of Tuition for £3m.

Satty launched Golf in the Community in 2007. This grassroots project attempts to ensure that every school child in East Renfrewshire has access to professional tuition and practice facilities.

In 2005, Satty became the first Asian person to hold the position of Director of Rangers Youth Development Fund.

Satty also owns an events company which has recently been responsible for bringing Ale Gore and Bill Clinton to Scotland. As well as business interests, Satty is heavily involved in a range of charities including offering young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods access to golf lessons and other sporting opportunities.

Son Oleg Kuznetsov Singh born 1994 and is already a great Ranger's fan like his dad.

An outstanding goal of his is to take his property business to an international scale. He recently teamed up with John Viola, a football agent and property developer in Dubai, with whom he is working closely to develop properties across the Middle East.
