Born 1944 - holds degrees from Cambridge, Manchester, London and
Delhi universities; he spent 15 years in the highest echelons of the
British Civil Service dealing with the privatisation of several state
industries and then a similar period from 1984 as a merchant banker
before running his own corporate finance boutique.
Career : He was appointed a Director of Lazard Brothers and
subsequently became Managing Director at the merchant banking
businesses of Standard Chartered bank, and then of WestLB.
He created his own international finacial advisory business, Vanguard
Capital, in 1993 advising the government and major corporations.
Ranjit Mathrani, his wife, Namita Punjabi, and sister-in-law,
Camellia Punjabi, are responsible for some of London's best known
authentically Indian restaurants, Chutney Mary and Veeraswamy, Amaya
and the Masala Zone group. He is the financial mastermind behind the
parent company Masala World.
Appointed as High Sheriff of Greater London - the oldest civil office
in Britain - in 2010. |
