Born 1977
Career : When his father passed away when Raj was 15, he left
school in order to support his family and help run Suria Jewellery,
the first Asian jewellery shop in Birmingham, which opened in 1978.
By the age of 21, he had spread his wings and started his own
offshoot company, but still unfulfilled, turned his hand to property
management, and set up Lanesway Ltd in 2000 when he was just 23 years old.
His up-market new restaurant Itihaas, which cost Raj
£750,000 of his own money in a total of £2 million and
opened in 2005 was immediately named "Best in Britain Best
Newcomer" in 2005 and has since won awards from Good Curry Guide
and British Curry Awards.
Raj has been acknowledged for his contribution to the community and
also by the Queen for his contribution to the hopitality industry. |
