Career : Nat Batt was initially a court worker but decided
Birmingham should have some real North Indian cuisine so became a
sleeping partner then owner of Maharaja in Hurst Street.
Maharaja is one of the oldest established Indian restaurants in
Birmingham and wellknown by curry lovers throughout the
country. Opened 1971.
All chefs are from five star hotels in India. Considered one of the
best Indian restaurants in the Midlands.
Egon Ronay Restaurant of the Year 1976 & 1996. Best Indian
Restaurant in UK by BBC Food Mag., Curry Club Best in the Midlands
