Mr. M. Puntar was born by the paddy fields in the Northeast of
Thailand. (Ubon Ratchathani Province).
Career : Around 1968 Mr. Puntar became a member of the
"Bangkok Officer Open Mess" in the Chao Phraya Hotel in
Bangkok. His position was an assistant cook. Here he learned the
basics of being a good chef.
In 1974 he applied for working in England to work with "Trust
House Forte Hotel LTD;" and came to UK to work at Imperial
Hotel, Torquay. From there he moved to Kensignton Park Hotel in
London and then in 1977 moved again the Intercontinental Hotel.
In 1987 he was promoted to sous chef and won the 'Outstanding
Employee Award".
In 1983 he opened his own Esarn Kheaw Thai restaurant on
Uxbridge Road.
Awards
1992 : Thai Food Festival, Certificate of excellence. " The Best
Thai Food"
1993: Nominated for " Best New Restaurant " Esarn Kheaw
finalist presented by Time Out Magazine.
1997: Recommended by " Figaro Magazine" (Japanese)
2001: Certified as a privilege to use the Logo of
"Thailands Brand." Issued by " Department of Export
Promotion Minister of Commerce."
2001: Nominated for "London Restaurant Award"
presented by Carlton Television.
2002: 10 Year achievment award.
2002: Recommended by "Time Out Magazine" (Red Star)
2005: Recommended by "Time Out Magazine".
