Born 1960 and studied accountancy at Warwick University. Family is
from South India and Malaysia. Kumar is a chartered accountant and
practised in the areas of audit, tax and corporate finance with KPMG
from 1983 to 1996.
Career : Managing Director of Pearl Hotels and Restaurants
Group (PHRG) founded with his father Muthu and lawyer brother Selva
in 1994 opening Raffles restaurant in Kenilworth.
Owns the Georgetown and Coconut Lagoon restaurant brand
as well as hotels making a total of 15 units in the group.
He is a board member of Visit Britain (since 2002) and Chairman of
its Audit Committee. He was also on the board of the Heart of England
Tourist Board and Belgrade Theatre (2000 2004).
Kumar is a member of the Council of the University of Warwick and
Deputy Chairman of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (the
CBSO). Kumar Muthalagappan was appointed to the Olympic Delivery
Authority (ODA) at its creation by Parliament in February 2006 and
holds responsibility within the Audit, Finance, and Remuneration Committees. |
