Joseph Moretti was born in Venice in 1773.
Joseph Moretti came to England at some time before 1799 (he married
an English woman Jane Bargman in London that year - John Baptiste
Pagliano married sister Sarah the year before who gave birth to
Charles) and he came from either Venice or the Veneto region. He ran
an 'Italian Eating House, just off Leicester Square from 1803-1805
and may have gone to work with his brother in law John Baptiste
Pagliano at the Hotel Newton and Sabloniere. Died 1861.
Children: Francis (b 1800), Joseph (1809), Jane (1810), Lazarus
(1817), usually known as George, and Charles (1820). |
