Chef

Ian Pengelley

He grew up in Hong Kong where his father was a major in the Army, found a passion for cooking in the west country, toured Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia as a recipe spy, in search of something which would define him, his passion, his excellence, his drive.

Career : Pengelley came to fame at Notting Hill’s E&O restaurant and at Gordon Ramsay's Pengelley’s in the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in Knightsbridge. Then his career as a top London chef had a nose-dive into debt, misery and despair and his critics said he would never recover.

However, in June 2006 he opened the 260 seat Gilgamesh in Camden serving Pan Asian cuisine and it was an instant success.

2007 the 36 year old chef won a Tatler Restaurant award for Gilgamesh.
