Punjabi, born in 1955 in Kenya, son of Bishen Dass Anand who founded
the original Briliiant in Nagara Kenya in 1957. Three brothers.
Restaurant closed in 1973 due to political pressure.
Career : Opened Brilliant in Southall with older brother Kewal
as a 36 seater (now 250). By 2007 restaurant run by son Shankar 21
and daughter Dipna 23. Named Best Restaurant in South by Best in
Britain Awards (BIBA) 2007 and Best in Greater London & Suburbs
by British Curry Awards 2007. The restaurant was visited by HRH
Prince Charles in 1979 and again 28 years later with Duchess of
Cornwall. Also acted as host for May Boris Johnson and the location
for Gordon Ramsay's Channel 4 TV show on Indian food.
Very active in fund raising for charity and working with the
community. Known to be quite a singer when asked!!
