Gino, from the Adriatic resort of Jesolo and a hotel family, worked his way up the ladder via the world's toughest catering college near Lake Maggiore, before coming to Britain in 1969. The restaurant is now overseen by daughter Laura who after reading Italian and English at Warwick University, went into PR and eventually became the head of events for MTV Europe, working with stars such as Cher..
