Born in Montepulciano Career : Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi - Husband and wife duo cook up traditional Italian food from Giancarlo's native Tuscany at the Caldesi Restaurant in London, launched in 1993 before meeting wife to be Katie. English born Katie Caldesi is the principal of their cookery school, La Cucina Caldesi, in London. She is a keen cook having learnt her love of food from her mother's kitchen. Giancarlo remains very Italian, in spite of having spent the last 30 years living and working in the UK. He also gives demonstrations at their cookery school. Open a new restaurant, La Cucina Caldesi, in Bray in 2007. The Caldesis made a television show, Return to Tuscany, shown on UKTV Food, and have published two books.
