Born in Mirpur, Syhlet, Bangladesh in 1958 Aziz moved with his
parents to Oxford in 1969.
Career : Since 1978 he has opened several restaurants and
take-away establishments in Oxford and around Oxfordshire. He has
gained a reputation for excellence in all his establishments. His
restaurant the 'Aziz' has gained national and international
recognition as one of the best in the country' and has won regular
awards for excellence over the years. Son Abdul Rahman has now joined
his father at Aziz.
He is a Director of Frontline Travel (International) Ltd, Chairman of
Global Money Transfer (2003) Ltd, Managing Director of Smart Village
Ltd, Founder Trustee of the Jagannath Pur Education Trust and learn
Foundation, an organization promoting IT education in Bangladesh and
is also involved in mobile medical unit projects in Bangladesh.
He was one of the leading figures in the launch of the Dine
Bangladeshi Campaign and was the first Chairman of this organization.
He was also the first Chairman of the Guild of Bangladeshi
Restaurateurs and is the Deputy Director General of the Bangladesh
British Chamber of Commerce. Past involvements include the Greater
Syhlet Association, UK and Bangladesh Catering Association.
He is very involved in charitable causes and is associated with Oxfam
and is particularly interested m relief projects to Bangladesh. He is
a Director of the Ethnic Minority Business Services in Oxford, Member
of the Oxford Brookes University Court and Director of the
Oxfordshire Business Enterprise. He is also actively involved in
providing support for local schools, community projects and other
local charitable organizations and projects.
Hobbies/Pastimes : : Traveling, sports, especially football
and cricket. He is also a supporter of issues relating to the local
area, whether it be charitable, social or economic. |
