Ahmed Us Samad Chowdhury JP, FISMM, FCMI, FHCIMA

Education : Came to England in 1972. Educated in Business management and was President of Student Union of South Bristol College 1975-76.

Career : He opened the West Country's first Indian Take Away, The Indian Food Centre in 1979 and in 1980 opened The Rajpoot in Bath with brother Mahmud. Built a group of ten restaurants and take aways in Bath & Bristol.

Abroad he is the sole distributor of Unilver Products in Bangladesh as Fensyl International.

Very active in charity work especially in 1990-1991 to raise funds to help the Bangladesh Cyclone Appeal and founded a Cyclose Shelter in Chittangong and an Orphanage in Sylhet.. Encouraged the formation of The Bangladeshi Women's Group in 1987 and in 1990 founded Bangladesh House (Community Centre) in Bristol. He is also Chairman of Deshbarta Bengali weekly newspaper. Governor of City of Bath College of Higher Education and appointed to the Bristol Bench. Director and Regional President of British-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (South West). Associations include FISMM, FCMI, FHCIMA.
