Born in 1951. Died July 2011.
Education : Trained as a hotelier in Bombay.
Career : Was running a five-star deluxe hotel in North Yemen
in March 1982 when received a call from his Chairman to open Bombay
Brasserie in 1982. The restaurant was an instant success against
the odds and he later opened Quilon concentrating on South Indian
cuisine. Now a director of Taj International Hotels, Restaurants
Division. Undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures in the UK
Indian restaurant sector.
2007 Retired from Bombay Brasserie. One of the most knowledgeable,
gentlemanly and respected people in the industry. Critic Michael
Winner referred to hiam as "one of my favourite restaurant managers"
Awards : Best in Britain (BIBA) Restaurant Personality of the
Year 2007 and many other awards.
Died 28 June 2011 and greatly missed by all - a giant of a man. |
