Haji Abdul Ghafoor came to the UK in the 60s from Pakistan.
Career : In 1962 he opened his first establishment,
Cafe Shezan on Clowes Street. Mr Ghafoor's obvious eye for business,
matched with his culinary skills were soon there for all to see and
he opened his first restaurant in 1964, the Multan.
Established by Haji Abdul Ghafoor at 145-151 Wilmslow Road on
Manchester's famous curry mile road back in 1969, Sanam's has grown
in stature through the years, always moving up that extra gear amid
continued competition from other outlets in the Rusholme area. Sanam's
Sweet House, now run by his son Abdul Qayuum opened in 1975 and
is the oldest and largest restaurant on Wilmslow Road |
